Dividends still on pause

“A virus ate my economy”. So went one headline describing the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on UK output. Joking aside, the decline measured a massive 20 per cent in April, a monthly fall that is three times greater than that experienced during the whole of the global financial crisis. It also towers above other 'largest ever' falls such as the -7 per cent recorded in January 1979 during the winter of discontent.
