A month has gone by since I first wrote about the coronavirus in this column, and how we should assess the risks that the health scare posed to the global economy. So far, the risk that the virus – now dubbed Covid-19 – could trigger a sustained sell-off has not materialised. Yet the potential financial impacts should nevertheless not be downplayed, especially as it is still too early to categorically say if the worst of the outbreak is behind us.
